Jan Egeland, born in 1957 in Norway, is a distinguished humanitarian worker and diplomat.

He served as the United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs from 2003 to 2006, leading global humanitarian relief efforts. Currently, he is the Secretary-General of the Norwegian Refugee Council, continuing his dedication to aiding and protecting refugees and displaced persons worldwide.

Egeland has actively participated in resolving and providing emergency assistance in various international crises, including South Sudan, Syria, and Myanmar. He has been internationally recognized and honored for his significant contributions to the humanitarian field.
