Carlos Manuel Rodríguez is the CEO and Chairperson of the Global Environment Facility (GEF). Before assuming his current role, he served as Costa Rica's Minister of Environment and Energy.
The GEF, established in 1991, is one of the world's most influential environmental funding organizations. During his first term as Chairperson, Rodríguez led the record-setting eighth replenishment of the GEF in 2022, securing $5.33 billion from 29 donor countries. In 2024, he was re-elected for another term, extending his leadership until 2028.
