Chief Economist at the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB)

Erik Berglöf, born in 1957 in Sweden, is the chief economist at the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB). Prior to this, he served as the Director of the Institute of Global Affairs at the London School of Economics and as the Chief Economist and Special Advisor to the President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).

Berglöf is internationally renowned in the fields of financial development and transition economies. His academic research primarily focuses on transformation economies under policy issues. Additionally, he frequently provides advice to governments, international organizations such as the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank.

He joined the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) in September 2020. As the head of the bank's Economic Department, he is responsible for developing the department's vision and strategy, and oversees the planning, implementation, and supervision of departmental work to support the AIIB's mission. His writings frequently appear in major financial journals, analyzing European economic issues and offering insights on China's economic future.
