Christiana Figueres, born in 1956 in Costa Rica, is a renowned diplomat and climate change expert. Her father, José Figueres, served three terms as President of Costa Rica and established the country's modern democratic system.

Since 1995, she has been involved in international climate change negotiations, representing Costa Rica in the negotiations of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and the Kyoto Protocol.

From 2010 to 2016, she served as the Executive Secretary of the UNFCCC, leading the historic Paris Agreement negotiations to a successful conclusion.

Figueres is committed to global climate action, advocating for sustainable development and environmental protection. Her extensive experience and exceptional leadership in climate policy and international negotiations have made significant contributions to global climate action.
