Scott Vaughan

Senior Fellow at the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD)

Scott Vaughan is the former President and CEO of the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD) and the Chief Advisor for International Affairs at the China Council for International Cooperation on Environment and Development (CCICED). He served as President and CEO of IISD from 2013 to 2019, and has also held roles such as Commissioner of the Environment and Sustainable Development in Canada, Director of the Department of Sustainable Development at the Organization of American States (OAS), visiting scholar at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, Chief Economist at the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) Environment Commission, and advisor to the World Trade Organization (WTO). Vaughan previously worked in the Executive Director’s Office at the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and initiated the UNEP’s Banksia Programme.

He currently serves as the Chief Advisor for International Affairs at CCICED and is a member of the Guizhou International Advisory Council for Ecological Civilization, frequently participating in major domestic ecological civilization-themed activities and delivering keynote speeches on international cutting-edge ecological finance management experiences and green finance development practices.
