Nora Bateson is a research designer, independent filmmaker, and writer, currently serving as the founder and president of the International Bateson Institute. She is the daughter of renowned anthropologist and linguist Gregory Bateson and the granddaughter of biologist and evolutionary theorist William Bateson. Bateson is a prominent member of think tanks such as the Tällberg Foundation, the Club of Rome, and the Taos Institute.
In 2010, she produced the documentary "An Ecology of Mind," which encourages viewers to observe their lives within a larger system, integrating symmetry, drama, and metaphor. Bateson is known for integrating complex systems theory with aesthetics, exploring themes like education, communication, and cybernetics. Her 2016 book "Small Arcs of Larger Circles" is an essential work for understanding systemic and complexity studies.
