Sir Tim Smit is best known for his achievements in Cornwall, UK. Along with John Nelson, he "rediscovered" and restored the Lost Gardens of Heligan, now one of the most popular gardens in the UK. He is also the co-founder and Vice-Chair of the award-winning Eden Project in Cornwall. Conceived in 1995 and completed in 2000, the Eden Project has attracted over 19 million visitors.
The Eden Project showcases how a barren landscape can be transformed into a thriving garden that symbolizes human ingenuity and features world-class horticulture and iconic architecture. The project has contributed over £1.9 billion (approximately 18 billion RMB) to the local economy, creating thousands of jobs and revitalizing the region's economy. In recognition of his contributions, Smit was awarded a Knight Commander of the Order of the British Empire (KBE) by Queen Elizabeth II in 2012.
