

Achim Steiner

Achim Steiner, born in 1961 in Brazil, is a German economist and environmental protection expert currently serving as the Administrator of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and Vice-Chair of the United Nations Sustainable Development Group.
He has previously held prominent positions such as the Rector of the University of Oxford's Martin College, a professor at Balliol College, the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Nairobi, the Secretary-General of the World Commission on Dams, the Director-General of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), and the Executive Director of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).
Steiner has extensive experience and significant influence in international environmental policy and development cooperation. His leadership has been pivotal in supporting the global sustainable development agenda.
